When a family holiday turns into a nightmare…
Ryan and Niki had worked hard to take time away from the family cattle business so they could take their daughters, Asher and Alyssa, sailing on the Torres Strait.
But their dream family holiday became a nightmare when Asher was bitten on the leg by a shark.
With the wound bleeding rapidly, Asher’s only hope was the Royal Flying Doctor Service, which flew her 765 kilometres from Lockhart River to Cairns Hospital for emergency surgery. There, she spent four days recovering from a punctured artery in her leg.
We need your help to continue saving lives like Asher’s.

“We’re so grateful that the Flying Doctor was there for us and is there for everyone who needs them.”
– Niki, Asher’s mum
Your generous donations will help the Royal Flying Doctor Service continue its vital work, ensuring people in remote and rural communities receive timely, high-quality healthcare when they need it most.
