Inspired by the Australian outback and the history of the Flying Doctor, dedicated supporters Murray and Robyn are leaving a gift to RFDS Victoria in their Will.
After 25 years of avid support, Murray’s dedication to the Flying Doctor is now something of a family joke. But his love of the service is rooted in a deep affection for rural people, and the historic importance of the Flying Doctor to their way of life.
Murray got to know farmers right across the country during his tenure as the CEO of the Australian Wheat Board. He quickly noticed the lack of adequate healthcare, and admired the farmers’ grit, resilience and selflessness in the absence of medical support.
As he says, “Rural communities are the fabric of Australian society, but outside of our cities, healthcare just drops off the cliff. I think the role the Flying Doctor plays there is very admirable.”
Since that time, Murray has been an important
supporter, a volunteer in our old mail room, and has also served as the Chairman of our Board. Now, he and Robyn are leaving a gift to RFDS Victoria in their Will.
And he has an important message for anyone who may also be thinking about giving to RFDS Victoria in this special and personal way…
“The Flying Doctor is an Australian icon. It’s part of our society. And it’s earned an incredible reputation. I think it’s very important these things live on. Because success is not just about the past, it’s about the future too.”
