Paul is a long-time supporter of RFDS Victoria who has generously left us a gift in his Will. The Flying Doctor is a service he’s extremely passionate about and hopes will live on long after his lifetime to help Australians access health care no matter where they are.
As he said, “There’s nothing else in the world like the Flying Doctor in Australia. I’ve been a big admirer of how the pilots and the nurses can cope. I think it’s wonderful.”
Paul’s family emigrated from the UK to Australia in 1947. Paul later became a teacher and moved to Nairobi, Kenya, where he and his late wife Jill lived happily for many years. Kenya holds a very special place in his heart. “That’s what I loved about Kenya. It’s very much like Australia. The wide open spaces and beautiful skies.”
Paul’s roots in rural Australia, together with his appreciation for those who live and farm in the outback, have driven his support for the Flying Doctor and his decision to leave us a gift in his Will. As Paul explains:
“People need the Flying Doctor … if they have accidents, injuries, illnesses and so on. If they weren’t there, how would people cope?
To anyone who is thinking about giving a contribution in their Will to the Flying Doctor Service, it’s a very worthy cause. I know the people that receive it will be very, very grateful for it.”
